Cuban guitarist Miguel Bonachea at Blake Library

Miguel Bonachea studied at the National School of Arts and the University of Arts in Havana, receiving his bachelor’s in Music. He became a professor at the National School of Arts and later at the Instituto Superior de Arte until moving to Colombia, where he was Dean of the Conservatory of Music at the Institute of Fine Arts in Cali. Mr. Bonachea served as Head of Guitar at the University EAFIT in Medellin and taught at the University Juan N. Copas in Bogotá before moving to the US.

The Treasure Coast Classical Guitar Society, a community for classical guitar enthusiasts, was formed in 2010 to promote the appreciation of classical guitar, provide opportunities for guitarists of all levels to meet and play together, and to sponsor professional concerts.
